Embroidered canvas totes sell for two different reasons: as a retail accessory with a personalisation angle, and as a corporate or event item with a logo on it. Both are made from the same construction, and both come down to canvas weight, print or embroidery method, and handle attachment. We produce them in Guangzhou at MOQ 50 pieces per design.
1. Specify the canvas properly
- Weight — 10 oz and 12 oz are the usual retail range. Under 8 oz the bag reads as a giveaway, not a product.
- Pre-shrunk or not — untreated canvas can shrink after the first wash, which matters if your customer will use it as a laundry or grocery bag.
- Colour — natural, black, navy and seasonal colours; confirm whether it is yarn-dyed or piece-dyed, because that changes how the colour ages.
- Lining — an unlined canvas tote is cheaper and lighter; a lined one looks more finished and can carry an internal pocket.
2. Embroidery, printing or both
This decision affects your artwork cost more than your unit cost:

For personalisation programmes (initials, names), embroidery is the practical choice: one digitised file, then each piece is stitched to order. Tell us the letter height you want, and where — front centre reads best on a flat tote.
3. Construction details buyers notice
- Handle length: 60 cm total carries by hand, 70 cm and above goes over the shoulder
- Handle attachment: stitched across a reinforced rectangle, or box-X stitched — both are stronger than a single seam
- Base: a reinforced base panel, with or without feet
- Gusset width: this is the difference between a flat tote and one that stands open and holds shape
- Closure: open, magnetic snap or zip
4. Branding beyond the print

5. Samples: 3 to 5 days
We build a pre-production sample in 3 to 5 days, including your embroidery or print, so you can approve the real material, the real colours and the real placement before production starts. Colour and placement are exactly the two things a digital mockup cannot confirm.
6. QC and warranty

Do you charge for digitising the embroidery file?
Usually it is a one-off cost; tell us the logo or the letter style you want and we will confirm it with the quotation.
