Chest Bag Manufacturer: What Buyers Should Specify

Chest bags sit between two categories buyers usually source separately: a sling you wear every day, and a small crossbody that has to look presentable. The difference is in the strap geometry, the depth of the pockets and the hardware. We manufacture chest bags and crossbody slings in Guangzhou at MOQ 50 pieces per style.

1. Fix the carry position first

A chest bag worn across the sternum needs a shorter strap range and a flatter back panel; the same body worn as a shoulder bag needs a longer strap and a wider base so it sits without swinging. Tell us which position you are designing for — it changes the pattern, the strap anchor position and where the pockets can go.

2. Size the main pocket around one hero object

  • Small (1–1.5 L) — phone, cards, keys. Sells as a street accessory.
  • Medium (2–3 L) — phone, power bank, wallet, sunglasses, a small notebook. The volume seller.
  • Large (4–5 L and up) — now a small sling: needs a wider strap and a padded section if a tablet goes in.

Specify the internal dimensions of each pocket in millimetres. A chest bag that cannot hold a modern phone plus a power bank is a returns problem.

3. Access and security

  • Front-facing or back-panel access — back-panel is harder for a pickpocket but less convenient
  • Zip type and slider: reverse-coil or covered zips look cleaner and resist a blade
  • Magnetic snaps are fast and cheap; a zip is what buyers in cities ask for
  • An RFID pocket behind the main compartment is a low-cost feature that photographs well

4. Materials and price brackets

  • Nylon and oxford — light, water-repellent, technical. Specify the denier; 600D and 1680D behave very differently under load.
  • Canvas and waxed canvas — heavier, lifestyle positioning, easy to print.
  • Microfiber leather — the dressy end: uniform colour across the run and easy to clean.
  • Genuine cowhide and crazy horse — premium positioning, ages visibly, takes embossing.

5. The strap is where cheap bags fail

Check webbing thickness, the buckle brand and size, the adjustment range, and whether the adjuster holds under load. Two details worth speculating: a strap keeper so the tail does not flap, and reinforced anchor points where the strap meets the body.

6. Custom options at 50 pieces

Colourways, embossed or printed logo on the face or the webbing, rubber or woven labels, custom lining, custom buckle colour, custom pullers, and packaging. Colourways make a chest bag look like your own product rather than a generic one, and they cost a fraction of a new pattern. See private label leather bags.

7. Samples, MOQ and QC

Pre-production samples take 3 to 5 days and you approve a physical piece before bulk production. MOQ is 50 pieces per style, splittable across colours. Inspection covers fabric consistency, strap and buckle load, zip function, pocket dimensions, stitch tension and logo position; our defect rate is held under 2% and every bag carries a 3-year warranty — see the QC checklist.

Frequently asked questions

What is your MOQ for chest bags?

50 pieces per style. Mixing colours within a style is fine, and reorders of an approved style start from the same figure.

Can you make a chest bag in two sizes from one pattern?

Yes — usually the same body with a different depth and strap length. It keeps your photography and tooling cost down.

Do you supply bags ready for marketplace fulfilment?

Yes: individual polybags, barcodes and carton markings to your specification.
